Copyright Form

The Copyright & Licensing Form is an important part of the GIRPC Journal's publication process. It establishes a clear and transparent understanding between the author(s) and the Global Interdisciplinary Research and Publishing Collective (GIRPC) regarding ownership, publication, dissemination, and permitted use of a manuscript accepted for publication.

GIRPC recognizes that scholarly work represents the intellectual contribution, effort, and expertise of its authors. Accordingly, the Journal's publishing framework is designed to ensure that authors retain ownership of their copyright while granting GIRPC the necessary rights to publish, preserve, distribute, and make the work accessible as part of the permanent scholarly record.

Why Is This Form Important?

Copyright and licensing arrangements help protect both authors and the Journal by clearly establishing who owns the work and what rights are granted for its publication and subsequent use.

The form helps to:

confirm the authors' ownership or lawful authority over the submitted work;
ensure that all authors have agreed to its publication;
establish GIRPC's right to publish and disseminate the accepted article;
clarify the rights retained by authors after publication;
address the use of copyrighted third-party material;
provide readers with clear information about how the published work may be reused;
support responsible sharing and dissemination of scholarly research; and
reduce uncertainty regarding intellectual-property rights after publication.

Author Rights and Open Access

GIRPC's publishing model is based on the principle that authors should not be required to surrender ownership of their intellectual work merely because their research is published.

Under the Journal's adopted licensing framework, authors retain copyright while published articles are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) licence, subject to its terms and conditions.

This permits readers and other members of the scholarly community to access, share, and reuse published research for permitted non-commercial purposes with appropriate attribution, while commercial use is not automatically authorized by the licence.

The applicable licence is intended to balance open scholarly communication with respect for authors' intellectual-property rights.

When Is the Form Required?

The Copyright & Licensing Form is completed for manuscripts that have been formally accepted for publication by the Journal. The rights granted to GIRPC under the form take effect in accordance with the terms stated in the agreement.

Authors are encouraged to read the form carefully before signing it and to ensure that all co-authors understand and agree to the stated copyright and licensing arrangements.
